Hi! This morning it’s a bit rainy in Cambridge and unfortunately it’s supposed to be like this the next couple days. Luckily it should clear up by the time the weekend rolls around, which is great. Last weekend we were pretty spoiled (well, mainly Saturday). It was perfect for Head of the Charles! Actually, Sunday wasn’t too bad either when I went for an outdoor workout sponsored by Equinox and Pact.
I’m not sure I’ve ever talked about Pact on here, so I’ll take a little time now to explain. It’s a phone app that you can download for free that is geared toward healthy living. Every week you decide how many days you will work out and make a pact. Let’s say you decide you are going to work out at least three times in a week. You set the workout pact for 3 days and every time you workout or go running you have to check in at the gym or track the run using a running app (such as run keeper). What happens if you don’t work out the 3 days you set for yourself? Well, you have to pay at least $5 each workout you miss. So basically the app incentivizes you to fulfill your pact or else you’ll be owing a lot of money each week!! The nice thing is you can change the pact each week depending on your schedule, injuries, and you can even take a break if you know you are going on vacation and may not have wifi or something.
Here’s the best part: each week you fulfill your pact, you get paid! Every week I make over $1 just for working out. $1 may not sound like a lot but it’s still cool, and a lot better than paying $5/workout missed! Where does that money come from? From the users who didn’t fulfill their pacts. Sorry guys. I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now and can say I’ve made over $150. In the beginning I was getting paid a few dollars a week and while it’s less now, the money still adds up! The app is now based out of San Francisco, but was started in Boston by a couple of Harvard students. There are a few people who work for the start-up in Boston and over the last month or so they have been putting on fun and free events around Boston. A few weeks ago I went to one at Flywheel and this weekend went to one with Equinox. It’s a ton of fun and great to meet other Pact users 🙂 highly recommend the app. There are also other pacts you can make such as a food app where you log your food in My Fitness Pal and also veggie pact where you post pics of your veggies. I only do gym pact and the food pact. I never have enough space on my camera for the other pact!
This last week I’d say was pretty solid. Yesterday, I received the best surprise. My daddy sent flowers to my office! It was so sweet and made my day 🙂 ❤
I also had a fun facial party at my house using products from Arbonne. I loved the brand and had a great time. Plus I got to see my sister for the first time in three weeks. I basically had to bribe her to come by paying for her uber to my place because she had just woken up but it was worth it. I’m going to another Arbonne event tonight so I’ll talk about it more another time it you should google it and check it out!
Another exciting thing is that I bought a monitor in order to have two screens for when I have to do work at home (either at night or just working at home for the day). I haven’t actually had to use it for work yet…it’s been functioning as my tv the last few days 😉
One last thing that’s work related is that I finally bought myself a bike that goes under my desk (have I already talked about this? Can’t remember, so I’ll just talk about it anyways) 🙂 I’ve been using it almost every day, twice a day for at least 30 minutes each time. It’s not meant to be a workout, but rather just a way to keep my blood flowing and legs moving since I’m sitting at a computer all day long. I really like it 🙂 Plus it gives me an excuse to take off my heels!
Here’s some of my food pictures from the last few days. Most of this food I made myself (yay cooking), except for the first picture, which is from Bgood who also sponsored the Pact event on Sunday 🙂
