One Week In

Tonight I was asked “When do you start work” by the mom of one of my roommates and I responded with a huge smile on my face “Actually, I just finished my first week of work today! My first day of work was on Monday!”

I really can’t believe that a week has flown by! I love my work so far and it really has only has been training. But now I have two projects which is super exciting because I get to apply what I’ve learned in training. Today went by faster than the other days, because well, I only worked half a day! I came in around 8:40 and left by 12:40. In July and August we have what’s called “Summer Friday” where we work a little extra during the week to be able to take a half day on Friday. It’s pretty neat!

For breakfast today, I had half an apple and half a banana and coffee. Before leaving for work, I also made myself a salad with an arugula base, goat cheese, sweet & spicy pecans, apple, and a homemade vinaigrette! I decided to bring lunch to work despite the fact that I was going to be leaving the office around lunch time because my personal training session started at 4 pm and I was told not to eat or drink caffeine the 4 hours before so I ate my lunch at 11:30 am. I also ate a couple Russian chocolates a co-worker brought back from Russia! Yummy lunch 🙂 No pictures though, unfortunately. I was in the middle of a meeting while eating lunch and totally forgot!

My personal training session went really well! I didn’t actually work out today, unless you count running for 8 minutes on a treadmill as a workout! 🙂 We did some measurements including BMI, body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, blood pressure, heart rate while running, etc. The tests I did verified that I indeed have strong legs, something that I knew already, but still interesting to see how much muscle I have in each leg! I also learned that I carry nearly 47 lbs of muscle in my trunk. Hahah I nearly died of laughter when I saw that. It’s kind of weird to think of Individual body parts in terms of pounds. Not surprisingly, my trunk is also where I carry the most fat proportionally of my body parts. We talked about my goals (running a half marathon under 1 hr 40 min, running a 10k under 42 min, and becoming fitter overall, for Zumba and running). In 6 weeks, I’ll be tested again to be able to see the progress I’ve made! I get one more free personal training session, but am considering buying a couple more just to solidify my training plan (specifically my weight/lifting plan) so that I can meet my goals 🙂 I think it would be worth it.

For dinner tonight, I made my sister and I a chicken noodle soup. The soup
contained chicken broth, onion, garlic, carrots, broccoli, grilled chicken, tomatoes, portabello mushroom, and brown rice penne pasta! And we added avocado on top of course! I also made us a fruit salad with mango, banana, blueberries, honey, and granola. Lastly, we had two Lindor truffles for dessert!

I moved a couple boxes from the basement into my room tonight. Moving in has been quite the process! Still have a lot left, but it will get done eventually. The rest of tonight, I think I’m going to spend relaxing, responding to emails, and perhaps a little tv before I head to sleep.

Welcome (almost) to the weekend!
