Running and Excel

I was back on my exercise grind this morning! It was my fastest 6 mile run ever, according to my Run Keeper, which I started using summer 2012. I was pretty excited! It’s always great to see progress πŸ™‚ I was definitely not running that fast even a month ago, so I’m happy to see that I’m getting faster! Maybe I’ll look and see if there is a 10k I can sign up for before my half- marathon to get some more practice πŸ™‚ The only bad thing about my run was that my right foot was hurting a bit again. I think I need to get a tennis ball and massage it out. My foot feels fine when walking so I am not too worried about it, but will keep an eye out!

For breakfast, I had a protein shake, a juicy plum, and hazelnut coffee!

My majority of the day was taken up with training. What a surprise! πŸ™‚ Only today, the training was mostly on Excel. I’m going to geek out for a bit and just say that this was my favorite training this far. I had also really been looking forward to this and was so excited that today was Excel day! Excel has SO many shortcuts, it’s absurd. We didn’t use the mouse once all day. EVERYTHING we did in Excel we did using shortcuts. It was pretty awesome. Before today, I only knew a few basic shortcuts, and everything else I did with a mouse. I can’t wait until I’m a pro! Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me πŸ™‚

For lunch, I ate a salad that I created at the salad bar in our office building. My salad had a spinach and mesclun base with a little bit of everything for toppings including cherry tomatoes, beets, carrots, onions, pasta, Parmesan, chickpeas, pecans, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It was a most delicious salad!



We continued with Excel for a few hours after lunch before moving into other trainings, which were less hands-on but nevertheless interesting and useful! The Excel training actually ended early so some of us decided to enjoy the mini golf putting area in between sessions. Golf is apparently a big deal in the real world, especially the business one, and I need some serious training! I practiced for putting for a bit and surprisingly saw some improvement in the 15 minutes I spent outside! During the afternoon trainings, I ate some snacks including an apple, Lara bar, and candy (uh oh).




After work, I made my way to the gym for Zumba! I haven’t taken a Zumba class since being back in Boston. I actually haven’t taken a full Zumba class since the master class with Meli a few weeks ago. My sister met me at the gym and we had a fun workout together πŸ™‚ Speaking of Zumba, I did hear back regarding one of my auditions (my second one from last Friday). I was told in the email I have potential and am a strong instructor, but that they don’t have room for me right now, but to come audition again! I wasn’t expecting to get it this time around because I had no availability for the couple Zumba teaching spots and I only started, but they did really like me! I haven’t heard back from Harvard yet, but I hope it’s good news!

For dinner, I made my sister and I meatless meatballs with marinara sauce, manchego cheese, corn, and avocado! I really wanted to prepare an easy meal and this was quick and very satisfying. I will probably eat a piece of fruit later tonight, and let’s be real a piece of chocolate as I complete my homework for tomorrow. Did you do a double take when you saw the word homework? I almost did! I thought I was done with homework now that I’m no longer in school! Haha. I’m actually excited about this because I’m working on a mini presentation I’m giving Friday. I finally brought my work laptop home, so I’m feeling especially official this evening. I also just got an email staffing me on my first project! It’s over a three month long project. I’m pretty excited to get my hands dirty (not literally) πŸ™‚ But seriously, my first project! This is so cool.
