Yesterday, I signed up for AFAA’s group exercise certification online program. AFAA is the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, though I kind of like the name I chose for the abbreviation. Even though I have a Zumba certification, many gyms require that instructors also have this certification so they are aware of the muscles they are using and know and understand safety in the class. The online course consists of a study guide, 14 lectures, and then a practice exam before taking both the exam and practical. I spent the late afternoon watching two of the lecture videos and taking notes by hand. I felt like I was back in school! Halfway through the lecture I realized I should just type my notes and so I switched to typing on my iPad. Much more convenient! I also spent part of the afternoon jewelry making. It’s a fairly recent hobby of mine. Danielle’s mom has a ton of beautiful beads and gave me some so that I could work on projects. So sweet of her! I took some beads to be able to make necklaces for both Danielle and her mom. I’ll post hopefully pictures soon! I had to re-start my iPad because it was acting up so I lost the photos that I took of the necklaces 😦 But I’ll see Danielle in a couple days and get the pictures then!
In the late afternoon, I went to body combat with my mom. As much as I love Zumba, I LOVE body combat. There’s just something about punching and kicking the air that’s so much fun. It was a great workout. The instructors are amazing and the music is always really lively and upbeat.
Regarding my meals:
Breakfast- high fiber joes O’s and another honey flax cereal with almond milk and blueberries.
Lunch- kale smoothie and an open turkey sandwich. Kale smoothie was made with tangerine juice, strawberries, blueberries, and kale. Turkey sandwich had one slice of wheat bread, whole grain mustard, mozzarella cheese, turkey, tomato, arugula, avocado, pepper, and balsamic glaze. Delicious! Spicy and sweet pecans for dessert!
Dinner- for dinner I went to a friend’s house and had a turkey casserole that had ground turkey, jack cheese, stuffed peppers. I also had green beans and mushrooms, Mexican rice, guacamole and salsa and lots of wine 🙂 For dessert, strawberries and whipped cream and two cookies!
This morning I’m going to/teaching Zumba! And again in the afternoon!
