Pool Day

While I love playing in water, I’m not much of a swimmer. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to swim and am not that bad, but I don’t know that I would ever want to get crazy and swim in a triathlon or something. Today was my first time this summer in a pool. I went with my best friend Danielle and her younger sister and another friend. We swam around a bit (using noodles) and then went to the shallow end and shot some hoops. I didn’t put enough sunscreen on (or any…) so I got a little sunburnt. Luckily, it doesn’t hurt. We took a break after a while and got a snack at the concession stand. Strawberry shortcake ice cream stick for Danielle, and a vanilla ice cream sandwich for me 🙂 it was quite the treat! 20140708-203231-73951591.jpg Today, I both ran and went to a Zumba class. I ran 4 fast miles with Derek in the morning. We saw a deer on the run on the third mile! Since we slowed down as to not freak the deer out, I took advantage of our temporary walk/jog to capture a photo! My legs actually felt pretty good today (compared to most of our other runs), which was wonderful as it means my legs are finally in some sort of recovery or they are just a lot stronger now. I’d be happy with either situation. Zumba was a blast! I taught 5 songs today (3 of them were brand new). Like yesterday, I “co-taught” with Kitty, helping her lead the first half and last part of class and teaching my five songs in the middle. I feel like I’m improving every day as an instructor. It’s crazy to think that I’ve only been licensed for a little over a week (10 days), and already I am coming up with my own material, learning another material, teaching in front of a live class, cueing, and using a microphone! What a steep steep learning curve. I, of course, am not there yet. I had a couple minor hiccups that I didn’t make while teaching Danielle my songs earlier today, but no one seemed to mind too much. I have a very nice and forgiving class 🙂 20140708-204303-74583115.jpg 20140708-204304-74584100.jpg 20140708-204303-74583613.jpg My meals today: Breakfast- protein shake Lunch- leftover quinoa, cabbage and other vegetables with chicken sausage Snacks-high fiber Joe’ O’s, vanilla ice cream sandwich, a chicken tender Dinner- leftover beer chicken with bell peppers, black rice (this version was more of a stew than yesterday’s dinner), avocado, corn on the cob, mango, strawberry lemonade. 20140708-204301-74581639.jpg 20140708-204302-74582472.jpg 20140708-204300-74580783.jpg As you can see today was a lot of leftovers, but we mixed things up a little bit and added different side dishes to make the meals more exciting!
