Hello everyone!! It’s Less. Another early wake up this morning. Today I ran a very fun workout. And by fun, I mean hard and terrible, but I actually do like it in a weird runner kind of way. It really is good workout. This workout is known as the 4th of July workout, given to me by my best friend from home who ran it with her teammates on guess what, the 4th of July. This is a pyramid based workout, meaning you build up distance to a certain point, and then go back down.

Fourth of July Workout

Run 100 meters, rest 45 sec.

Run 200 meters, rest 1 min.

Run 300 meters, rest 1 min 15 sec.

Run 400 meters, rest 1 min 30 sec.

Run 500 meters, rest 1 min 45 sec.

Run 600 meters, rest 2 min.

Run 500 meters, rest 1 min 45 sec.

Run 400 meters, rest 1 min 30 sec.

Run 300 meters, rest 1 min 15 sec.

Run 200 meters, rest 1 min.

Run 100 meters.

But wait, you aren’t done yet! Rest 2-3 min.

Run 6 200’s, taking 45 sec rest in between each 200 meters.

Now you are done!

I lifted afterwards, and then I was ready to eat. Jess had told me a couple weeks ago that Pinkberry was doing a promotion of their new Greek yogurt and they were giving away free Greek yogurt on Wednesdays from 8-10 am. We didn’t go last week because we were doing the soccer camp and had access to Spangler dining hall (which had great breakfast foods!), so I was very excited to be able to go to Pinkberry this morning!!! It was AMAZING! I topped my yogurt with raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, low-fat honey granola, and vanilla agave nectar. I absolutely loved it. I believe this is the third week of the promotion and I really hope it continues. I actually woke up this morning looking forward to my workout because I knew that once I finished I would get to go try Pinkberry’s Greek yogurt. Hopefully this conveys to you how excited I was to go to Pinkberry. Haha. I also went and bought myself an iced coffee with a splash of vanilla soy milk. I’ve read articles that say that caffeine is good for runners because it helps boost performance, endurance and muscle recovery. Coffee is a great choice because it also provides antioxidants. Green tea would be a great choice as well. I am a big fan of green tea and also herba mate 🙂 But I try not to drink too much caffeine a day or else I won’t be able to sleep at night!

What’s your favorite caffeine drink?

Have a great morning!
